A stable solution for Conveying powder

If you have challenges with dust, spills, or inconsistent dosing, vacuum conveying is an effective solution. It is a form of pneumatic conveying where the material is moved using air in a closed system.

It reduces dust and waste and ensures a more stable and controlled dosing. The result is a more reliable process and a better working environment in production.

Invitation to the 5-year inspection Dear owner, In connection with the upcoming 5-year inspection of the property, you are invited to attend the inspection of your flat. The 5-year inspection is carried out as part of the standard follow-up on the construction work and is intended to identify any issues that may fall within the contractor’s responsibility. Please send a list of the defects you wish to have addressed during the 5-year inspection to kejserhaven@skanska.dk by 1 July 2026 at the latest. Regardless of whether a list has been submitted, the contractor would like to briefly inspect the flat at the time specified below. We would also like to clarify that not all types of defects can be raised during the 5-year inspection. Only defects that were present upon completion of the building in 2021, but which could not reasonably have been identified during the 1-year inspection in 2022, may be raised. These typically concern hidden or not immediately detectable faults and defects which are of a certain significance or magnitude, but which have their roots in the original workmanship. Normal wear and tear, conditions arising from use or lack of maintenance, or damage occurring after handover, however, cannot be invoked. Time and place of the inspection Date: Thursday 27 August 2026 Time: 10:00–16:00 Representatives from the developer, consultant and contractor will be present during the inspection. It is important that you attend if you wish to participate and highlight any issues you believe should be discussed, as otherwise, as the owner of the flat, you will lose the right to claim for defects. If you are unable to attend, please notify us by 3 August 2026 at the latest by emailing kejserhaven@skanska.dk. For members of the board If you are a member of the board, please ensure that access is provided so that the developer can inspect the communal areas during the inspection. A simple process

From suction to stable operation

Vacuum Conveying is a simple process – but with a great impact on operations, quality, and the working environment.

Suction

The material is automatically drawn from a feedpoint via vacuum.

Conveying

The material moves through a closed pipe system – with no dust or spillage.

Dosage

The material is delivered and dosed precisely into the receiving container.

Repetition

The process is repeated automatically, ensuring stable operation.

Answers to typical questions about vacuum conveying

The material is sucked from a feed point and transported through a closed pipe system to a container, where it
Dose-controlled. The process runs automatically in repeated cycles.

Is vacuum conveying safe in ATEX environments?

Yes. The solutions can be delivered with ATEX certification for both dust and gas, depending on your requirements.

Vacuum transport can move powder up to 50 metres. Further distances drastically reduce capacity.

We can handle almost all dry powdered materials with a maximum moisture content of 30%. If the moisture content is higher, we will need to carry out a test before we can offer our equipment.

No – PIAB vacuum conveying generally requires very little maintenance.

Here's why:

✅ Wear parts

PIAB's vacuum conveyors are constructed with:

No rotating or mechanical parts in the material flow

The primary wear parts are seals and filters, which are easy and cheap to replace.

✅ Reliable construction

Pneumatic operation = no motors or gears

Robust design, suitable for continuous industrial operation

Often used in the food, pharma, and chemical industries, where operational reliability is critical

✅ Easy cleaning and inspection

Quick disassembly without special tools

Smooth surfaces and hygienic design (CIP/SIP on selected models)

Cleaning can often be done in a few minutes

✅ Low maintenance requirements in practice

Typical maintenance consists of:

Visual inspection

Periodic inspection/replacement of filter

Check of seals during planned shutdown

✅ Calculate total cost of ownership (TCO)

Low maintenance means:

Reduced downtime

Yes – PIAB vacuum conveyors are specifically designed for easy integration into existing equipment and processes.
It is one of their great strengths.
✅ Easy retrofit
PIAB solutions are often used for:
Upgrading manual processes
Replacement of snails, elevators or bucket handling
Automating material feed

They can typically be integrated without major changes to the layout or machinery.
✅ Flexible connections
PIAB vacuum conveyors can be connected directly to:
Bag charge
Sights
Mixer
Reactors
Tablet presses and capsule machines
Feeding and dosing equipment

Inlet/outlet can be customised in height, angle, and flange type.
✅ Simple control integration
Works pneumatically → only requires compressed air
Can be controlled via:
PLC
Digital I/O
Simple pneumatic sequences
To synchronise with existing machine sequences

✅ Minimal space and intervention

Compact units, also for tight production areas
Snakes can be carried:

Vertically
Horizontally
Around existing installations

✅ Suitable for many industries
Integration ses ofte i:

Food production (flour, sugar, spices)
Pharma (APIs, granules, tablets)
Chemicals (powder, pellets)
Plastic (granules)

With correct material selection (stainless steel, ATEX, FDA etc.).
✅ Quick implementation
In many cases, the solution:

Installed in a few days
Dries and validates quickly
Commissioned without further production downtime

In short:
PIAB vacuum conveyors are highly integrable, both mechanically and control-wise, and are often used as a flexible upgrade for existing production equipment.

If we know your powder characteristics (bulk density), capacity (Kg per hour), desired conveying distance and any hygiene or ATEX requirements, we can offer the correct PIAB solution without excessive oversizing.

What is vacuum transport?

Vacuum conveying is a method of transporting powders and granules in a closed pipe system using negative pressure.

It is a form of pneumatic conveying where material is moved using air instead of mechanical components. It ensures dust-free, hygienic and controlled transport in production.

The solution is typically used in food, pharmaceutical, and industrial production, where stable operation, high product quality, and minimal contamination are required – as part of an efficient powder handling solution.

Compared to mechanical transport systems such as screw and belt conveyors, vacuum transport requires less space and provides a more flexible and dust-free process.
