Powder handling
When it comes to powder handling, it is important to decide on the different powder handling principles that are offered. There can be big consequences if you make the wrong choice from the start. Mechanical conveyors or pneumatic conveyors can all transport materials from AB. Below is a selection of different powder handling methods and the challenges that can come with it. We are happy to advise and follow the projects from start to finish.
Manual powder handling
The safety and well-being of employees is of paramount importance. We are dedicated to offering solutions that not only make your powder handling easier, but also put employee safety and hygiene first. Our systems reduce or eliminate the risks of consequential damage when today you are forced to have manual handling of powder internally in the factory. We help to optimize processes and create a dust-free and efficient working environment.
Open cupola elevator
Bucket elevators have an open, uncovered top and a rotating belt. When the product material is not exhausted in a cycle, it is usually spread in the production area.
Installing a cup elevator requires major assembly and planning work which is time-consuming, expensive and entails high maintenance costs. It is also a rigid system that can only operate at the capacity it was designed for. It does not meet the highest hygienic standards, as it has large contact surfaces with the transported product, and it is also difficult and time-consuming to clean.
Open belt conveyor
Belt conveyors use a lot of floor space. These are bulky pieces of equipment that have a high risk of spillage.
Belt conveyors have high maintenance costs, especially if they are used to transport abrasive materials. In addition to spillage, disinfection is also a major problem, and the transported material can easily become airborne, causing health problems and the risk of dust explosions.
Auger conveyor
The friction caused by auger/screw conveyors can lead to significant damage to the material to be transported as well as temperature changes.
Auger Conveyors & Screw Conveyors do not allow curves or changes of direction, they are bulky and cannot transport in a vertical line, making their areas of application limited. They are also difficult to clean.
Why choose a Pneumatic Transport System
The safest way to transport powder. There are no moving parts that can cut objects or require lubrication, pinch points that can catch a piece of clothing, or pinch points where the gears meet.
Eliminates the risk of contamination. Transported materials are transferred in a closed system that is not exposed to polluted air.
Saves space. Pneumatic conveyors can even be installed just below the ceiling and take up only a fraction of the space compared to a mechanical conveyor.
Eliminates waste. The closed pipelines greatly reduce the possibility of material loss.
Easy to clean and disinfect. Pneumatic conveyors usually have a built-in filter cleaning system that prevents the filters from clogging.
Flexible and easier to maintain. Material changeover and maintenance generally take much less time compared to mechanical conveyors.
